Meet in the Courageous Room at Lake Miona Recreation Center.\u00a0 It is so fitting that the Wannabe Writers meet in the Courageous Room.\u00a0 I find it takes courage to write.\u00a0 I don’t know if all people who write need encouragement, but I know I don’t feel good about my writing, but I get a lot of encouragement, so that keeps me going.\u00a0 I love to write for my own pleasure, and have been doing it\u00a0 even when I was too young to be trusted with a crayon or pencil.\u00a0 I know this because my Mother would tell the story that I apparently was old enough to go into the bathroom alone, but not for long.\u00a0 This one day I went in and locked the door.\u00a0 My Mother kept knocking on the door, are you coming out, not yet…after she made several attempts and I still did not come out, she inquired what are you doing?\u00a0 I’m busy, I replied. Busy?\u00a0\u00a0Busy doing WHAT?\u00a0 I replied, I’m writing (I was entirely too young to even know my letters, but I was writing anyway.) My Mother said she paniced thinking I had gotten a crayon and was now scribbling on the entire bathroom wall.\u00a0 I still was not coming out, and as she pursued her line of questioning, and conjoling,\u00a0 I told her\u00a0 I didn’t have a pencil, or a crayon.\u00a0 Well then how are you writing?\u00a0 I’m writing things down in my head.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On second thought, maybe I wasn’t a young writer at all, but perhaps a young thinker.\u00a0 The Villages has many Writer’s Groups that meet.\u00a0\u00a0I have not had the courage to attend one yet, but perhaps\u00a0may just go to the Courageous Room, it sounds like a safe place to start.\u00a0\u00a0 There also are many, many authors with published books that live here. As a matter of fact, \u00a0my favorite show is coming up on February 4th at the Lake Miona Recreation Center…Authors and Book Lovers Showcase…from 9-2.\u00a0 Each Village author\u00a0has a table with their book or books they have written; you get to see the book, but more importantly, you get to meet the creator.\u00a0 The first Showcase I attended, I was absolutely amazed, as always, at\u00a0the variety of talent our Village neighbors\u00a0\u00a0have.\u00a0 History books, Civil War, World War II, children’s books, cook books, mysteries, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, sports, I could go on and on.\u00a0 When I really think about it, when compared to all the talented writers,\u00a0it is probably\u00a0fairer to say I was a young thinker.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
