It’s amazing that sometimes when we really reach back into our memory bank, we can\u00a0actually feel \u00a0the emotions\u00a0we had at different happenings in our life.\u00a0 I specifically remember how I felt the day I got my social security number and my working papers.\u00a0 I was 16 years old and in my mind I had left the house that day as a child, and returned home all grown up with my social security card in my wallet, and working papers. \u00a0 I can remember the excitement I felt and remarked to my Aunt that I had gotten the best number.\u00a0 She asked what it was, thinking it may be something unique\u00a0like 123-45-6789.\u00a0 When I told her the number,\u00a0 she laughed and\u00a0 looked at me with a very \u00a0puzzled look on her face, because there didn’t seem to be any rhyme nor reason to the numbers.\u00a0\u00a0 She asked what made it the\u00a0best, and without\u00a0hesitating,\u00a0 I said because it is mine.\u00a0 \u00a0 To me that number was a right of passage, \u00a0I now entered the adult world,\u00a0 I \u00a0could now go to work,\u00a0 no more babysitting for me.\u00a0 I\u00a0 also said something else\u00a0that day that I have thought of many times over the years.\u00a0\u00a0 In still talking about my number,\u00a0 I said a very nice\u00a0OLDER\u00a0\u00a0person gave it to me.\u00a0\u00a0 With the emphasis being on\u00a0OLDER, \u00a0she inquired, how old?\u00a0\u00a0 About your age, I innocently said.\u00a0 She gasped and said, I am only 51,\u00a0 I am not old.\u00a0 I was really confused as 51 was old to me,\u00a0 luckily I realized there was no way I could make this better, so I said nothing.\u00a0 But over the years I have thought of that conversation; \u00a0when I turned 50 and \u00a0especially now when I say someone is young and they are in their 60’s.\u00a0\u00a0 51?\u00a0 Teenagers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
