The other day I was riding through a neighborhood, and saw a sparkling white van that was parked in a driveway.\u00a0\u00a0The van’s whiteness caught my attention, \u00a0and as I got closer I noticed the large clean, crisp,\u00a0black \u00a0lettering on the side…\u00a0Popcorn Removal.<\/em>\u00a0 Being from the North East, I only knew popcorn as something to eat, preferably while watching a good movie.\u00a0 Oh, popcorn with butter that is. \u00a0 Two things flashed through my mind…the\u00a0van is so white because it is \u00a0sanitized, and\u00a0could you really\u00a0have so much leftover popcorn that\u00a0you need to call Popcorn Removal?\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0I did come to my senses within seconds, and remembered that the texture on many of our\u00a0ceilings\u00a0is called popcorn, and this homeowner was apparently \u00a0removing the ceiling texture in\u00a0his home.\u00a0 That thought\u00a0 got me\u00a0thinking and I started watching the different signs on the cars, as I continued to my destination.\u00a0\u00a0The active lifestyle of villagers doesn’t\u00a0leave \u00a0a lot of time to tend to household chores, so there are many services that are available to us.\u00a0\u00a0Some names \u00a0immediately conjure up a picture in your mind.\u00a0\u00a0Some are warm and fuzzy, like Comfort Care<\/em> or Peace of Mind Home Watch<\/em>, \u00a0and you feel good before you even call them.\u00a0 Affordable Home Watch<\/em> appeals to\u00a0your pocket book.\u00a0 However,\u00a0 there are others that make you think a little bit\u00a0more. \u00a0Clutter Control<\/em>…must be like pest control or animal control.\u00a0 \u00a0Do they use traps, nets and snares to control\u00a0the clutter?\u00a0 \u00a0All Around Aluminum<\/em>…do they do the entire house, while others do only half way round the house?\u00a0\u00a0Just In Time Aluminum<\/em>…in time for what?\u00a0Breakfast? Dinner?\u00a0 When I\u00a0arrived home, \u00a0I\u00a0checked out the classified section of the paper\u00a0and found\u00a0more names that were thought provoking. \u00a0 Six Ladies in a Bucket..<\/em>\u00a0I have to believe it was a misprint,\u00a0as \u00a0it was hard to imagine\u00a0how big that bucket must be with six ladies in it…and how could they do window washing and cleaning if they were all in the bucket.\u00a0 Org by Design…<\/em>\u00a0do they design websites,\u00a0 is it .org , no org means organize and they will do that in your closets and garages.\u00a0 Do you call them after you call\u00a0Clutter Control<\/em>?\u00a0 The\u00a0Village Hangman<\/em>…what does HE do?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0No, he \u00a0doesn’t hang villagers, \u00a0cattle rustlers\u00a0or wallpaper, but he does hang pictures, mirrors, curtain rods.\u00a0 There are many handymen in The Villages…\u00a0 Handyman, The Handy Guy, Mr. Handyman, Handyman Plus<\/em> and if the\u00a0next name\u00a0doesn’t\u00a0stir your memory, you are either too old or too young to call him…none other than\u00a0Action Jackson Handyman<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I have to congratulate all those businesses I have mentioned, as they were very creative in naming their companies in order\u00a0to attract customers.\u00a0 Your names worked,\u00a0 they attracted me and next time I need a little help around the house I will call one of them.\u00a0 I hope you will too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
