I was recently reading a book about living a joyful life, or something like that, and this one sentence really stuck in my head. School never ends, the classroom is everywhere.\u00a0 The classroom is not necessarily a room with a teacher and 25 desks.\u00a0 Our original\u00a0classroom started out in the crib, and then onto the sandbox.\u00a0 Although we did spend many years in classrooms,\u00a0 some of our hardest lessons were learned in other places.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0We silently watched our parents, we learned and\u00a0 we grew up to be like them, or not to\u00a0be like them. \u00a0\u00a0Many have more book knowledge, more degrees\u00a0and that is admirable and\u00a0in many cases \u00a0more profitable, \u00a0but how does that compare to life lessons?\u00a0 If classrooms are everywhere, everyone is learning…something.\u00a0 Some of the most successful people talk about having a mentor.\u00a0 Someone that came into their life,\u00a0\u00a0saw a raw talent and \u00a0believed in it.\u00a0 They never\u00a0gave up on you until you believed in it\u00a0yourself.\u00a0 What\u00a0also made me think about classrooms is the other day I was\u00a0learning how to mold cold porcelain.\u00a0 There were five\u00a0of us and as we got to know each other and shared bits of our prior lives, it was amazing to me how many different\u00a0\u00a0talents they had, and how involved they were in other activities.\u00a0 When I think of my grandparents when they were my age I couldn’t imagine them playing pickleball, baseball or golf, for that matter.\u00a0 I never saw my grandparents in bathing suits.\u00a0 It seemed their classrooms were gone.\u00a0 \u00a0The Villages, \u00a0on the other hand,\u00a0is one big classroom.\u00a0 Whether it is athletic lessons, artistic lessons,\u00a0computer lessons, health lessons, and more; they are all here and we are really having fun learning.\u00a0\u00a0I \u00a0especially enjoy the\u00a0 lessons learned by others, that were unpacked\u00a0when they arrived here\u00a0and unselfishly shared.\u00a0 It is so true…school never ends, the classroom is everywhere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
